Heroes One and All: Civil War Life, and Non-Combat Diseases

Heroes One and All: Civil War Life, and Non-Combat Diseases
Did you know that an astonishing two-thirds of the men who died during the Civil War succumbed to non-combat related diseases? Join us for our next meeting to explore the harsh realities of Civil War military life, particularly camp conditions, which fostered the development and spread of numerous such illnesses. In this fascinating, science-based presentation, Dr. Gomez will illuminate the connections between specific diseases and the camp factors that facilitated their transmission and onset. Tailoring his talk for our Round Table, he will delve into two compelling case studies from the Drum Barracks, illustrating these critical camp dynamics.
